Bradford Construction’s painting division was formed in 1954 to give clients of Bradford Construction a seamless and high-standard building experience from start to finish on their project. Bradford Painting Ltd provides interior and exterior surface protection on buildings from small domestic to large-scale commercial, all aimed at protecting customers’ valuable investment in real estate.
Bradford Painting maintains a core staff of 14, expanding as necessary to take on seasonal work. Led by a foreman, each project painting team takes into consideration the history of the building, including what they can learn from the customer’s records, the Historic Places Trust and the company’s own archives of previous work. Specific local weather and climate conditions, surface condition and previous treatments are all assessed. This allows the team to quote accurately, select the most appropriate products for the job, properly prepare the surface, give advice on future maintenance and explain any technical issues that arise.
Bradford Painting follows a five-step pricing process which begins with a check of the surfaces, and measuring. Photos may be taken, especially of unusual or difficult areas. Repairs are identified and costed, then labour and material rates applied to the measure to arrive at the quotation.
Bradford Painting services some larger customers on a contract basis and has experience in painting hotel, motel and other entertainment buildings; factories and warehouses; many iconic branded commercial buildings (including Harvey Norman, The Warehouse, Bunnings, McDonalds and Countdown); and, more recently, was invited to maintain Housing New Zealand homes in Mid-Canterbury. This includes domestic interior decorating, often using a combination of wallpapers and paints, and will typically be a complete room or whole-of-house type of project.
Restoration work on historic structures features strongly and Bradford Painting has recently completed painting the exterior of the homestead at Peel Forest Estate. Similar projects were undertaken in the restoration and repainting of the cookshop and homestead at Longbeach Estate.
For those customers wanting detailed decorating advice, Bradford Painting will recommend suitable colour consultants or interior designers, or happily work in with the consultant employed by the customer. This ensures internal and external colours, wallpapers and all soft and hard furnishings are pleasingly co-ordinated.
There is a restricted number of outdoor painting projects that can be accomplished over winter, so as much interior work as possible must be scheduled for the colder months. ‘Book in advance whenever possible!’ is the advice from Bradfords.
Bradford Painting aims to provide the best long-term result and prides itself on the high standard of workmanship of its painting team and the accuracy of its pricing.
